Book fair unites writers and children

YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 16, ARMENPRESS: The eighth book fair will be conducted in Khnko-Aper library February 20-22. The traditional fair of children's books is being conducted on the initiative of Ministry of Culture of Armenia and National Association of Publishers.

"Book fairs promote the development of children's literature and brings closer the book to the reader," director of the Association Vahan Khachatryan told Armenpress.

According to him, the fair is a real holiday. It not only gives an opportunity to the small readers get acquainted with the contemporary classical literature for children, but reinforces ties between the readers and authors of children's books. This year about 1000 books of about 30 Armenian publishing houses will be presented at the fair.

"The interest of children becomes obvious during the fair. Pupils not only of Yerevan schools but from provinces as well participate in the event," Khachatryan said.

Within the framework of the fair, presentations, fairy-tale recitation, meetings will be conducted. The book fair is the first event of 2012 dedicated to the 500th anniversary of Armenian Typography.
