The cabinet sitting approved December 15 the strategy of the industrial policy addressed to the increase of the volume of export. Economy Minister Tigran Davtyan said it is directed toward the expansion of the export sector of the economy, revealing of the export potential and its effective usage. The strategy envisages doubling the volume of export by 2015 and making it reach 3 billion USD by 2020.
Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan expressed gratitude to all the non-governmental organizations, representatives of political figures who participated in working out of the strategy and presented valuable proposals.
A council will be set up to regulate the events envisaged by the strategy. Tigran Sargsyan pointed out the importance of including representatives of the private sector in the staff of the council and instructed the Minister of Economy to work in that direction.
The strategy has registered 11 branches – brandy making, diamond processing, jewelry, textile industry, wine-making, pharmaceutics, exact architecture, etc. With this strategy the industrial potential of the country has been revealed.
The program of development of brandy-making, pharmaceutics and exact device making spheres have already been worked out together with the private sector. Development and export programs of the rest of the spheres will soon be discussed. The strategy gives priority to private-sector-state cooperation.
The export strategy was presented to the society at the December 4 economic conference of the Republican Party of Armenia.
