Lebanon believes NK conflict should be settled on the basis of self-determination right

YEREVAN, DECEMBER 9, ARMENPRESS:

The settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict must be regulated through international laws and on the basis of right of people to self-determination, President of Lebanon Michel Suleiman said at a joint news conference with his Armenian counterpart Serzh Sargsyan.

“We wish the great powers of the world not spare an effort for the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, Palestine and such like issues, so that peace dominates in the world,” Suleiman noted.

Referring to the concern that Azerbaijan is always voicing the issue of Nagorno-Karabakh in Organization of Islamic Cooperation, trying to give a religious coloring to it, President of Lebanon stressed that he discussed the issue with the President Sargsyan. “Very often, the issue is being raised at the Organization of Islamic Conference and the position of Lebanon is the following: we have always been against for the OIC to adopt a decision criticizing Armenia or Karabakh,” President of Lebanon stressed.

He also pointed out that the Minsk Group and the meetings of religious leaders or other formats must to utmost to settle the conflicts. “If the separating lines are eliminated, the threat of terrorism will be overcome as well,” Suleyman stressed.
