Future of Armenian Philharmonic Orchestra Uncertain

Today music schools do not fulfill their main function, according to Eduard Topchyan, artistic director and principal conductor of the Armenian State Philharmonic Orchestra.

He said today at a news conference that the situation is really worrying and there no ways of solution yet. He says though the Armenian State Philharmonic Orchestra mainly comprises of young musicians; however there are members, who just cannot be replaced, yet have some health problems. "If nothing changes, the orchestra will not operate in six years". It is quite necessary to invite talented musicians to Armenia. "Otherwise, one would not envy us for such a situation. The main reason of such situation is the indifference and unawareness," Eduard Topchyan said.
