YEREVAN, OCTOBER 8, ARMENPRESS: Alexan Avetisyan has today put down the authorities of the president of the Armenian Judo Federation. Many representatives of RA judo had applied to the Armenian National Olympic Committee (NOC) on the occasion of the issues originated in the federation, as well as to the International Judo Federation (IJF), the president of which – Austrian Marius Vizer, has arrived in Armenia. Chairman of the National Olympic Committee Gagik Tsarukyan expressed gratitude to Mr. Vizer for visiting Armenia, noting that he is well-aware and responds to the issues originated in the Armenian Judo Federation. According to him, a corresponding decision will be adopted to smooth this situation.
Marius Vizer, who was present at the press conference, noted that he is familiar with the situation in RA judo. He underlined that the IJF together with the RA NOC will do its best to support the settlement of the mentioned issues. According to Mr. Vizer, Alexan Avetisyan has made mistakes is his work, particularly, by being engaged in commercial activity, which is inadmissible; hereafter all the heads of the national judo will not be allowed to extend such an activity. Marius Vizer said that the complaints against Mr. Avetisyan are mainly fair. He also noted that the IJF will send a coach-manager to Armenia, who will support in coordination of the work of RA judo.
Alexan Avetisyan will have a new job at the NOC taking the office of deputy chairman. He has chaired the Armenian Judo Federation from 1992. Briefly presenting his work, the latter noted that during 18 years the Armenian judoists have participated in almost all international competitions, and their number now exceeds the 3000. Considerable work has been carried out, and mistakes could not be excluded,” Mr. Avetisyan said, adding that the latest complaints mainly concern financial issues.
Gagik Tsarukyan said that the NOC will support the Armenian Judo Federation till the end of October, and then the new heads of the federation will be determined. Marius Vizer, noting that few people in the world are currently engaged in financing of sport, advised to highly appreciate Gagik Tsarukyan, a person who loves and supports sport.
