10 thousand trees planted in Armenia within “Towards the 100th anniversary of the genocide” program

YEREVAN, AUGUST 13, ARMENPRESS: Ten thousand trees have already been planted within the frameworks of “Towards the 100th anniversary of the genocide” program undertaken by the World Armenian Congress and Union of Russian Armenians. It is intended to commemorate the victims of the Armenian Genocide in the whole territory of the Republic within the frameworks of the program.
Deputy Chairman of the Armenian World Congress and of the Union of Russian Armenians Vladimir Aghayan told Armenpress that a number of educational establishments, military units, NGOs and youth wings of different political parties have joined to the initiative, which proves about the unity and strength of Armenian people. “This process pursues several goals – to commemorate the victims of the genocide to promote the processes of improvement of the neighboring surrounding and of increasing the civil activeness of Armenian young people,” V. Aghayan said.
An international conference was held this June 2 on the initiative of the Armenian World Congress and Union of Russian Armenians, where issues on drafting a joint concept program on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Genocide will be discussed.
