Participants of the Conference on 100th Anniversary of Armenian Genocide to Hold First Inner-Group Gathering in October

YEREVAN, JULY 2, ARMENPRESS: The first inner-group gathering of the participants of the international conference on ‘The 100th Anniversary of the Armenian Genocide: the Finish Line for Rendering Justice’ will take place October, 2010. The conference, which is organized by the World Armenian Congress and RA Diaspora Ministry, started today in Yerevan.
During the gathering the participants are expected to discuss the works, undertaken from July to October, as well as the future deeds. ‘A special group will be established October, within the framework of which we will have an opportunity to gather and discuss the things we did or did not manage to do. In October we will also plan our future deeds, as the Genocide is such an issue, which cannot be solved in one day or month. We made our plans, to be implemented within the framework of the conference, for minimum five years’ time,’ President of the World Armenian Congress Ara Abrahamyan said at the end of the conference. He mentioned that the implementation of the suggestions of each of the participants, as well as their ‘ideological investments’ are quite important. The participants of the conference decided to put emphasis on uniting the Armenians from all over the world in order to start the process of applying to international courts for the recognition of the Armenian Genocide.
‘According to the international law, the Genocide is a crime. It is possible that we will establish an expert group, which will be responsible for detailing on the possibilities of regulation and fair settlement of the issue of the Genocide in international courts,’ Serob Antinyan, referent of the World Armenian Congress, said.
