FIRST CONFERENCE OF ARMENIAN COMMUNITY IN MALTA TO TAKE PLACE

YEREVAN, JULY 31, ARMENPRESS:First conference of the Armenian community, recently officially registered in the capital of Malta Valletta, will take place today in the evening. Head of the Department of the Armenian Communities of the Diaspora Ministry Hrach Aslanyan told Armenpress that the main issue of the agenda of the conference is the election of the head of the community, besides issues on the organization of the community will be discussed. H. Aslanyan said that Armenian community of Malta is quite organized and financially secure, its representatives are mainly jewelers, there are also lawyers and people involved in the service sector. In Valletta the community is planning to open an Armenian Sunday schools as well as place a cross-stone dedicated to the memory of the Armenian Genocide in one of the streets of the town. About 400 Armenians are living in Malta.
