Criminal case launched over minors found in Azerbaijan on grounds of kidnapping

A criminal case has been initiated in connection with the incident involving two minor residents of the Syunik region who ended up in Azerbaijan, according to Kima Avdalyan, the spokesperson for the Chairman of the Investigative Committee. "A criminal case has been initiated based on the grounds of kidnapping," Avdalyan said.

The National Security Service (NSS) of the Republic of Armenia issued a statement on June 6, reporting that at around 01:20, residents of the Tegh community - Karen Armen Jhangiryan (born on June 27, 2007) and Andrey Armen Gyagunts (born on January 13, 2008)- got lost and ended up in territory under Azerbaijani control.

The incident occurred in the area adjacent to the village of Aravus. According to the NSS, all necessary measures are being taken to determine the minors’ whereabouts and ensure their safe return.
