71st session of CIS Defense Ministers Council kicks off in Moscow

YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 30, ARMENPRESS. The 71st session of the Defense Ministers Council of the CIS participating states will be kicked off in Moscow on November 30, reports TASS.

Defense Ministers of Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, as well as the representatives of the CIS Executive Committee, the CIS Defense Ministers Council Secretariat, the CIS Anti-Terrorism Center and the CIS Border Troops Commanders Council coordinating Service will take part in the session.

20 issues related to various directions of cooperation between the Defense Ministries will be discussed. It is expected to summarize the results of the activity of 2016 and plan the joint work for 2017, as well as the events dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the CIS Defense Ministers Council.

Based on the session results it is planned to adopt decisions on issues related to the air defense joint system, communication system development, expansion of mutual cooperation in humanitarian demining field, military personnel training, conducting joint measures on combat readiness, as well as military-sports and educational events within the CIS format.
