YEREVAN, JULY 11, ARMENPRESS. Armenia plays an important role in the sphere of culture, especially inter-cultural dialogue. Alfredo Pérez de Armiñán, Assistant Director-General for Culture, told this at the opening of the international symposium dedicated to the 70th anniversary of UNESCO headlined “Cultural policies, politics for culture, the role of culture in post-2015 sustainable development” on July 11. “Armenia having its participation in the inter-cultural dialogue has acquired its own handwriting in that sphere; where the Armenian colleagues and world spread Armenian communities have much investment”, said Alfredo Pérez de Armiñán.

To the question of the journalists how he would assess the extermination of Armenian monuments in the Middle East, the Assistant Director-General for Culture of UNESCO refuted to answer, reasoning that “It is a multi-lateral issue between states”. But he added that a number of conventions of UNESCO are aimed to protect the monuments of the cultural heritage of nations where the governments of states must have a big role.
