YEREVAN, MAY 28, ARMENPRESS: The visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia Edward Nalbandian to Syria was launched with the meeting with the President of the Syrian Arab Republic Bashar al-Assad on May 27. The press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia informed Armenpress that welcoming the visit of Edward Nalbandian to Syria, Bashar al-Assad considered it important, at the same time highly evaluating the balanced position of Armenia on the Syrian crisis.

Thanking for the reception, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia Edward Nalbandian said that his visit is made in a period, quite difficult for the Syrian nation, stressing that the difficulties of the friendly Syrians are shared also by the Syrian Armenians.  

Touching upon the centennial of the Armenian Genocide, the President of the Syrian Arab Republic stated: “A hundred years ago the Armenian nation suffered Genocide. Unfortunately, today the history is repeated: the Syrians face the same sufferings as the Armenians did a century ago”.
