YEREVAN, 31 MARCH, ARMENPRESS. The vandals have desecrated the Armenian Genocide memorial in Lyon. As “Armenpress” reports, citing the “Nouvelles d'Armenie” that offensive expressions and swearing were written on the large part of 36 columns of the monument, which is erected in the Anthony Ponce Square.
In 2006, on the occasion of the opening ceremony of the monument, the denialists of Lyon, providing services to the Turkish community, had organized protest action by shouting fascist slogans. “This is not the first time that the 1.5 million martyrs’ memorial monument becomes victim of vandalism. The absence of the law criminalizing denial of the Armenian Genocide encourages the authors of the memory’s slaughter. They aren’t disarmed," Nouvelles d'Armenie writes.
A series of events will take place dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide in France, under the auspices of President Francois Hollande.
