Aronian and Nakamura to play 4 classic and 16 blitz games

YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 7, ARMENPRESS. The leader of the Armenian men’s chess team levon Aronian will participate in the Saint Louis tournament after the end of Tigran Petrosian Memorial.

As reports “Armenpress” citing Armchess website, Armenian GM Levon Aronian will have a match with the top American GM Hikaru Nakamura on November 21-25, 2014 in Saint Louis, USA. The grandmasters will have 4 classic and 16 blitz games. The prize fund of the match is 100.000 dollars.

A super tournament dedicated to the memory of Tigran Petrosian is held on November 4-11, 2014 in Moscow, Russia. Chairman of the Memorial’s Organizing Committee is the President of the Republic of Armenia, President of the Armenian Chess Federation Serzh Sargsyan. Chairman of the Appeals Committee is GM Rafael Vaganian.

GMs Levon Aronian (Armenia), Vladimir Kramnik, Alexander Grischuk, Alexander Morozevich, Ernesto Inarkiev (Russia), Boris Gelfand (Israel), Peter Leko (Hungary) and Ding Liren (China) will participate in the tournament.

Previously it was reported that The President of the Republic of Armenia and the President of the Armenian Chess Federation, Serzh Sargsyan, who has made an official visit to the Russian Federation, today attended the International Tashir Chess Tournament in memory of the 9th World Chess Champion Tigran Petrosian. Serzh Sargsyan who is also the Chairman of the Tournament Organizing Committee welcomed a number of strong International Grandmasters participating in the tournament and their numerous fans at Novotel Moscow Center, wished the tournament success and made the first move in International Grandmaster Levon Aronian’s chess game.

The memorial tournament has been organized by Tashir Group of Companies and the Russian Chess Federation.

Accompanied by the organizers, Serzh Sargsyan toured the event place, visited the press conference and reception halls and watched video materials dedicated to Tigran Petrosian. In the presence of the President of Armenia, the Armenian and Russian Chess Federations signed a memorandum of cooperation according to which Armenia’s strongest pupils’ team will participate in the authoritative chess tournament, Belaya Ladya.
