YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 5, ARMENPRESS: One of the key operatives of Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) and a field commander of Ansar al-Sharia (“Sharia followers”) linked to the AQAP, were killed in Yemen. As reported by the mass media, both were killed in an airstrike carried out by a US Air Force drone.

Five militants are reported to have been killed in the airstrike. One of them was Shouki al-Badani, whom the USA listed as an AQAP leader in June, Armenpress reports citing TASS.

Al-Badani, as the US government says, was involved in preparations for the attacks on the US Embassy and a terrorist attack in the capital of Yemen, Sanaa, where about 100 soldiers were killed.

According to the US State Department report on 17 June, $100,000 would be given for information about his whereabouts. Al-Badani was said to be one of the most dangerous terrorists connected to the al-Qaeda.
