YEREVAN, MAY 7, ARMENPRESS. The package of the draft laws on amendments and supplements to the Law of the Republic of Armenia “On Cigarette Sales, Consumption and Use Restrictions” and on amendments to the Law of the Republic of Armenia "On Television and Radio", which proposes to ban the TV companies to show smoking, is on the agenda of the 4-day sittings of the Parliament.

In a conversation with “Armenpress” the co- author of the law, the Chairman of the Standing Commission on Financial-Credit and Budgetary Affairs of the Parliament Gagik Minasyan noted that the draft law is due to the high prevalence of smoking. "It is known that tobacco use is number one cause of deaths. Smoking contributes to the development of cardiovascular, respiratory diseases, cancer and other chronic diseases, as well as increased rates of mortality and disability caused by them" – said Minasyan.
