YEREVAN, JANUARY 16, ARMENPRESS: Standing strong against the Armenian Genocide denial, the California State Assembly Education Committee unanimously adopted AB-659, a measure introduced by Assembly Member Adrin Nazarian which would mandate the inclusion of the Armenian Genocide materials in CA state curricula and expand the use of oral testimonies in the teaching of the Armenian, Cambodian, Darfur and Rwandan Genocide and the Holocaust.

“In USA California is a home for many refugees, the major part of which is the survivors or the heirs of the survivors of the Genocide. They can provide “first hand” evidences about their experience”, - said the author of the bill, adding that it gives the State a privilege to pass that knowledge to the further generations, Armenpress reports, citing the Armenian National Committee of America.

Following a 30 minute discussion held on January 15, the CA Assembly Education Committee adopted the measure with a vote of 7-0. The bill now goes to the Assembly Committee on Appropriations for consideration.
