YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 25, ARMENPRESS. First Deputy Minister of Transport, Communication and Information Technologies Artur Arakelyan says the transportation of two marine containers from Germany to Iran through Armenia in an experimental way enabled to understand the main obstacles that can emerge along the way.

The Deputy Minister said they had planned this way of transit multimode transportation with the partners over a year ago. He said it was necessary to understand what problems can arise during the cargos on that path in order to give them a systemic solution.

Artur Arakelyan said the problems arising on the way are of different nature.

“Actually, we wanted to understand the terms, to have a clear picture on expenses that are spent for the transportation. There can also be a problem of infrastructures since various means of transport are used, thus changing various infrastructures we must understand whether there are certain artificial delays, whether it is possible to accelerate or improve that process. We can also make the road more effective as a result of fixing certain liberal rules in the customs formalities. We will analyze these issues or will prove that they are totally missing, and the business will be already offered a new type of transportation”, he said.

To the question what projects there are in the future on carrying out such transit multimode transportations, the Deputy Minister said:

“In near future we are planning to pass a number of containers with retrospective road. We plan also to make cargo transportation with our Indian partners from India to Europe. There is already an agreement from Iran that we will transport from one of the ports. We will complete the organizational works soon, and as for India, we made a proposal, and certain representatives of the Iranian side were interested on it, currently we continue the talks”.
