YEREVAN, OCTOBER 26, ARMENPRESS. Deputy Speaker of the Armenian Parliament Eduard Sharmazanov held a meeting on October 26 with Oleksandr Pavlyuk – Senior Advisor on Political Issues of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the Press Service of the Parliament told ARMENPRESS.

Mr. Pavlyuk was interested in further political developments, particularly the upcoming parliamentary elections, the activity of the newly formed Cabinet and further steps.

Sharmazanov briefed Mr. Pavlyuk in detail on the situation after the constitutional reforms, noting that the upcoming parliamentary elections are going to be an important event in the political and public life of Armenia.

Speaking on the government’s activities, Sharmazanov said the leadership of Armenia is in favor of the new Cabinet’s strategy, which is aimed at reforms, which is based on the provisions of the President’s programs.

“The fight against corruption is also among the priorities of the Armenian Government. Moreover, the serious steps which are planned in the customs and tax sectors will be aimed at overcoming this problem. We have political will for the continuous realization of reforms”, Sharmazanov said.

Oleksandr Pavlyuk said the EBRD is interested in economic cooperation with Armenia and soon the prospects of mutual cooperation will be discussed.

Other issues were also discussed during the meeting.
