Azerbaijan faces fiasco after failing four-day war in April

YEREVAN, OCTOBER 21, ARMENPRESS. Azerbaijan is facing a fiasco, since its expectations from the Nagorno Karabakh conflict settlement negotiations were not justified after the four day war, Deputy Speaker of Parliament Eduard Sharmazanov told reporters in the Parliament.

“Aliyev has nothing else left to do than to compensate for this failure with despicable actions. On the other hand I have to mention that the international community, the co-chairing countries – specifically the USA and Russia, which were more active in Vienna and St. Petersburg, must take steps to call Azerbaijan to order, and reiterate that the Vienna and St. Petersburg agreements must come to effect”, Sharmazanov said.

He added that such behavior of Aliyev shows that the realization of the Vienna and St. Petersburg agreements is a critical and very important issue.

On October 20, at 23:00-23:30, Azerbaijan carried out sabotage infiltration attempts in the eastern and southern directions of the Nagorno Karabakh-Azerbaijan line of contact. The Defense Army units detected the advance of the Azerbaijani special forces in time and pushed them back to their starting positions by inflicting losses.

During the confrontation with the sabotage unit the Defense Army did not sustain losses.
