YEREVAN, OCTOBER 11, ARMENPRESS. Yerevan Mayor, the chairman of Yerevan Chess Federation Taron Margaryan was present at the solemn ceremony of closing of the international chess tournament “Yerevan open”. The participation applications were received from 140 chess players from 11 countries among which were 23 international grand masters and 9 international masters.

As “Armenpress” was informed from the press service of Yerevan Municipality, the winners of “Yerevan open” were awarded by Yerevan Mayor, the president of Yerevan Chess Federation Taron Margaryan.
According to the results of the chess tournament organized in Armenia for the first time and held from October 1 to 10 the first place was occupied by the representative of Armenia, international grandmaster Robert Ohanyan, the second place-by the representative of Russia, international grandmaster Pavel Smirnov, and the third place-by the representative of the Ukraine, international grand master Vitali Bernadski. During the tournament, besides the main prizes other prizes in other nominations were given as well.
