YEREVAN, OCTOBER 8, ARMENPRESS. President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan on October 8 received the French delegation led by Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo who have arrived in Armenia on an official visit by Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan’s invitation, press service of the Presidential administration informed “Armenpress”.

President Sargsyan welcomed the guests in Armenia and said he is happy to host Armenia’s friends in Yerevan who will take part in the ceremonies dedicated to Yerevan’s 2798th anniversary.

“Of course, it is pleasure to celebrate Yerevan’s anniversary with friends. We are grateful and always remember the names of persons who were not indifferent to both our pain and happiness”, Serzh Sargsyan said. He expressed hope Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo’s visit to Yerevan will be productive and will be marked with new agreements on deepening the further cooperation.

President Sargsyan highly appreciated the Armenian-French close cooperation in all sectors and said recent years’ regular political dialogue, the high level mutual visits and contacts, the cooperation in inter-parliamentary and multilateral formats, cultural, educational active ties, the decentralized cooperation between four dozen cities and regions, as well as the productive work within the framework of the International organization of La Francophonie are strong preconditions for further deepening the Armenian-French relations.

Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo and President Sargsyan both agreed that the Armenian community of France has a great input on the development of bilateral ties. The Armenian President thanked Anne Hidalgo for her attentive and friendly attitude towards the Armenians of Paris.

Serzh Sargsyan highly appreciated Paris Mayor’s and Municipality’s support for organizing the ceremonies dedicated to April 24, as well as her visit to Yerevan on April 24, 2015 among the delegation led by French President François Hollande.

President Sargsyan attached a great importance to France’s involvement as an OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairing country and President Hollande’s personal input on the peaceful settlement process of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict for the benefit of establishing peace and stability in our region.
