YEREVAN, JUNE 15, ARMENPRESS. On June 12 Armenian Ambassador to Vietnam Raisa Vardanyan paid a working visit to the Republic of the Philippines during which she met the country’s President Benigno Aquino, press service of the MFA of Armenia informed “Armenpress”.

Issues relating to the bilateral relations, as well as the development prospects of the relations on various fields were discussed.

Ambassador Vardanyan conveyed President Benigno Aquino the Armenian President’s congratulatory letter on the Independence Day of the Philippines. In his turn, President Benigno Aquino conveyed his warm wishes and greetings to the President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan and the Armenian people.

The same day Ambassador Vardanyan held a meeting with President of the Senate of the Philippines Franklin M. Drilon and Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Philippines Feliciano Belmonte.

Armenian Ambassador introduced the situation created as a result of Azerbaijani aggression unleashed against Nagorno Karabakh in early April and the recent developments over the negotiation process of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict.

In this context, Franklin M. Drilon stated that the Nagorno Karabakh conflict should be resolved only through peaceful means based on the norms and principles of the international law.

Armenian Ambassador also spoke about the international recognition of the Armenian Genocide, presented the efforts by the Armenian diplomacy aimed at preventing the future genocides.

Ambassador Raisa Vardanyan also met Foreign Minister of the Philippines Jose Rene Almendras.

A wide range of issues related to the bilateral agenda, in particular, the deepening of the mutually beneficial economic ties, the expansion of legal framework, the importance of holding consultations between the Foreign Ministries of the two states were discussed.

Minister Almendras confirmed the readiness of the Philippines to develop the cooperation with Armenia in all sectors.
