Armenia has stable macroeconomic environment, says Armenian President

YEREVAN, JUNE 8, ARMENPRESS. Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan is convinced that the traditional Armenian-Czech Republic forums will contribute not only to the further expansion of friendly and economic relations of the two states, but also will enable the Czech businessmen to reveal Armenia as a country of new opportunities.

“Not many people fight for coming Armenia, but we fight for bringing investors to Armenia and will continue this fight until our roles will be changed”, the President said during the Armenian-Czech Republic business forum on June 8 in Yerevan.

He said currently 20 companies with the Czech capital operate in Armenia and Armenia had the chance to cooperate with a number of Czech companies.

“It is not a secret that the investments are made in case of the existence of two factors: stability and economic interest. I can surely say all prerequisites exist in Armenia in this regard. Since Armenia’s independence, the macroeconomic stability has been our major priority and we currently have stable macroeconomic environment due to reasonable monetary and fiscal policy”, the President highlighted.

He said that in the current era of globalization the world crisis and the external negative economic factors had their impact on Armenia’s small economy. “In these circumstances, Armenia’s economic growth was 3%, while all states of the region experienced economic decline”, Serzh Sargsyan said. He stated that Armenia considers insufficient this rating of the economic growth and makes huge efforts to triple it.

The Armenian-Czech business forum is being held in Yerevan which is the third during 2016.

More than 100 Armenian and Czech companies are taking part in the forum.

Czech President Milos Zeman also attends the forum.
