MoD: Dismissals in Armenian Armed Forces intend to improve governance

YEREVAN, MAY 4, ARMENPRESS. Cadre policy of the army is conducted in a planned way, Defense Minister of Armenia told the reporters after behind-doors discussion with MPs, commenting on the dismissal of high ranking military officials. “Commands and decisions in the army are not subject to discussion, though they are based also on respective discussions and proposals. Of course, if you are talking about those cadre changes, I can answer briefly. They are linked with the situation and are intended for improving governance”, “Armenpress” reports Minister Ohanyan saying.

Seyran Ohanyan did not answer the question of a reporter if the military officials were dismissed because of their shortcomings during the 4-day war. “I already said; please do not ask extra questions”.

Referring to the question if criminal liability would be imposed on the high ranking officials, the Minister answered that they will not be subjected to criminal liability.

President Serzh Sargsyan signed a decree on April 26 dismissing Alik Mirzabekyan from the post of Deputy Minister – Head of Logistics Department of the Ministry of Defense. President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan signed another decree on April 26 dismissing Komitas Muradyan from the post of Head of the Communications and ACS Department of the Defense Ministry. By another decree President Serzh Sargsyan dismissed Arshak Karapetyan from the post of Intelligence Department Head of the General Staff of the Armed Forces.
