Danish MP: It is difficult for Turkey to recognize the Genocide after century of lies

YEREVAN, APRIL 23, ARMENPRESS. The current situation in terms of the recognition of the Armenian Genocide speaks of double standards and the betrayal of the West. Danish MP Aslan Rasmussen expressed such a viewpoint during the Second Global Forum "Against the Crime of Genocide".

As “Armenpress” reports, Rasmussen, whose mother is a Dane, father - a Kurd, has had an opportunity to see a church torn down in Western Armenia, he knew people who had witnessed those events, but feared to talk about it. "The Turkish authorities presented official deception, telling that there was a war and during the war Armenians killed them. Then they began to argue that the Armenians were killed by the Kurds and the Kurds say that they and Armenians were killed by Turks. After such a huge lie it is difficult for Turkey to recognize the Armenian Genocide ", -he said, adding that only a few countries had the courage to recognize the Genocide.

It is difficult for Rasmussen to imagine a situation that Germany would have denied the Holocaust and argued that Jews killed Germans. "This tells everything about Turkey and the double-standards used by the West. As refers to the Armenian Genocide, there has been a betrayal, since the civilized world knew what was happening, that Armenians were being exterminated, but no one did anything to stop the Ottoman Empire", he said.

According to him, history repeats and in front of the whole world Armenians are killed in Syria, other minorities, including the Yazidis are forced to flee the country. "Some of those who do not recognize the Armenian Genocide argue that historians have to figure out if it really happened. But historians have already qualified it as genocide. The West must admit this and respect the innocent victims and their relatives. Stop lying to people! Stop provoking new genocides in Syria and Iraq ", called Aslan Rasmussen.
