Khmer Rouge’s “killing fields” survivor says Armenia should become pioneer of Genocide education
YEREVAN, APRIL 23, ARMENPRESS. Armenia should pioneer in creating a genocide educational program. As “Armenpress” reports, this was stated by Executive Director of the Cambodian DC-Cam, founder of “Sleuk Rith” Institute and survivor of the “Killing Fields” of Khmer Rouge Youk Chhang, who is currently in Yerevan participating in the “Against the Crime of Genocide” Global Forum.
“Genocide education is indispensable to peace and prosperity -- including human rights protection. It not only predicts the success of individuals, communities and countries, but also the entire world! We must -- and Armenia should take the lead or team up with other countries who have been though genocide - seize the opportunity offered by ourselves who suffered genocide to establish the world’s first genocide education program for all. This can also build new bridges of communication and mutual respect, as well as a platform for realizing greater collaboration, development, and exchange”, he said.
