Fugitive Vahan Martirosyan leaves Azerbaijan
YEREVAN, APRIL 22, ARMENPRESS. Head of the “National Liberation Movement” NGO Vahan Martirosyan has left Azerbaijan. Martirosyan crossed the border to Azerbaijan with his wife and child and requested political asylum in September of 2015.
As “Armenpress” reports, this was informed by lawyer Novella Jafarova, head of the “Union of Women rights defense of Azerbaijan” in an interview with the Azerbaijani service of “Azatutyun” radio.
Asked why Martirosyan decided to leave, Jafarova said:”The family didn’t request asylum to stay in Azerbaijan. This shows that the family arrived to Azerbaijan in order to leave for a third country.”
The lawyer did not disclose the third country.
Previously Azerbaijan announced numerous times that the Martirosyans requested political asylum.
From March 28, 2005, Martirosyan was registered in the “Avan” psychiatric clinic. He was diagnosed with “Hysteric personality disorder”. Martirosyan is wanted by Armenian authorities.
