Political analyst says events of Talish are war crimes: Azerbaijan must be accountable

YEREVAN, APRIL 4, ARMENPRESS. The brutal and violent murder of the elderly people in Talish by Azerbaijani forces is a war crime, which is clearly defined in international law. This was stated by political scientist Narek Galstyan in an interview with “Armenpress”. "I think that after the end of operations, these facts will be gathered and registered, and our side will request relevant international organizations to hold Azerbaijani authorities accountable," he said.

Detailing the mentioned process, Narek Galstyan said that there are international courts which specialize in the study of war crimes and trials of people, including posthumously. "The process is complicated enough; the state has to apply to the relevant bodies. As usual during the legal proceedings, the facts in this case will be investigated and, if they are solid enough the process will begin, which can be delayed. In any case, it will not be an obstacle for us to start the process, "he added.

As for Azerbaijan’s vain ambitions to see Artsakh in its territory, Narek Galstyan noted that this issue is not subject to discussion, but such cases have come to reaffirm once again that it is impossible to imagine an Armenian existence within their society. "The issue of Artsakh being part of Azerbaijan has long been clear that it is impossible. Not only because it is not a part of Azerbaijan, but in general we see through their actions that we and the Azerbaijanis are incompatible within a society, "the political scientist concluded.

The Azerbaijani armed forces brutally and violently executed on April 2 civilian residents of Talish, Valera Khalapyan and his wife Razmela, and cut off their ears. Azerbaijanis also executed Marusya Khalapyan, born in 1924. Talish is located in the north-eastern part of the Nagorno Karabakh border.
