EEC council approves concept of establishing common gas market in EAEU

YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 12, ARMENPRESS.  The Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission has approved the concept of establishing common gas market in EAEU, “Armenpress” reports the EEC press service informs. Introducing the draft concept member of EEC Board (Minister) for energy and infrastructure Danil Ibraev mentioned that the document was elaborated in conformity with the treaty on EAEU. According to the treaty, the issue of establishing a common gas market in the Union must be studied and a relevant concept be submitted in 2016, and a plan for establishing the common gas market must be submitted until January, 2018. Afterwards, the member states of the Union will ink an agreement of the establishment of a common gas market in the Union, which will enter into force before January, 2025.

“In fact, elaboration of this document is very important, as for the first time we will enter competitive market with market principles of such trading item as natural gas is. This is particularly important in the sense that the main players and regulators of the gas market have agreed upon the provisions of the concept, which proves the rightness of directing our efforts to supranational course”, Ibaev said.
