Serzh Sargsyan: Our duty is to shape such Armenia the citizens of which will not think of
abandoning it

YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 12, ARMENPRESS.  Our duty is to shape such Armenia the citizens of which will be happy and will not think of abandoning it, moreover, will attract our compatriots from abroad and they will feel pride pronouncing “Armenia”. As “Armenpress” was informed from the Department of Public Relations and Mass Media of Republic of Armenia President’s Office, the President mentioned about the aforesaid in his speech dedicated to the implementation of the Constitutional changes.

“I am sure everyone is thinking today what steps are necessary to be taken to make tomorrow better than today, to improve life, to make our country more organized, stable and attractive for both our compatriots and foreigners. What to do to make quality education and healthcare available for everyone? What to do to make the word “patriotism” something more than merely a word? What to do in order to make reinforcement of our country the happiness guarantee of everyone? We must not be satisfied with the current situation in Armenia. We must indicate the achievements in almost all spheres that come step by step, but we must never be satisfied with them. Our duty is to shape such Armenia the citizens of which will be happy and will not think of abandoning it. Armenia that will attract our compatriots from abroad and they will feel pride pronouncing “Armenia” at every opportunity among others”, Serzh Sargsyan said.  In his words, the foreign political challenges oblige to enter a path of ascent with no delay. The President also stated that all our efforts and knowledge must be directed at this goal.

“We have to reach social solidarity inside the country. Social problems are in close relation with justice and we are obliged to accelerate the pace of the process aimed at increasing justice in public relations. We are obliged to shape such a public atmosphere where there will be no place for “privileged”, instead, there will be consolidated people: disciplined, law-abiding, peace loving and proud. Have we talked about this previously? Of course, we have talked about it many times. And we will talk much about it. Our successors will also talk about it and their successors as well. But this does not mean that there is no progress. Of course, there is. A fair eye will see much, but I reiterate, we need to accelerate that process”, Serz Sargsyan stated.  In the words of Serzh Sargsyan, our activities must not be limited by regulating only domestic issues.

Geopolitical changes force us to consolidate the world-spread Armenian nation to secure the existence of our people and its place in the world.

“We have to key values: the Armenian people and Armenia. They must stand above all other values. And all our steps, decisions and behavior must stem from these two values. These are the demands of Armenia and its future.  Our ancestors commanded this. And the behavior of each of us is measured by these values.  Any deed that will empower our state, will inspire our people, will deserve commend, if contrary –reproach.

Considering the regional situation we are just obliged to have a powerful and firm state, where everybody, if necessary, are ready to become the warrior of the Motherland”, the President said.

Serzh Sargsyan stated that the Constitutional changes were not imposed by any institution, neither was it undertaken to become a member of any institution. In the words of the President, it is a means to overcome challenges facing us based on the realities of our political life. Serzh Sargsyan expressed conviction that the Constitution will become the document of national consolidation within a short period.
