Azerbaijan responds to Co-Chairs’ statement by making subversive act: Armenia Foreign Minister

YEREVAN, DECEMBER 4, ARMENPRESS. Each year in December Azerbaijan decreases tension on the border, giving up provocations, but after the statement made at the summit, Azerbaijan again increases tension, responding to the statement in that manner. Armenia Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian said the aforementioned to the journalists in Belgrade, when referring to the Azerbaijani attempt of making a subversive act on December 4 night, during the rebuff of which soldier of the Artsakh Defense Army died heroically.

“I said during the meeting with the Co-Chairs that before each meeting of the OSCE Ministerial Council, Azerbaijan decreases tension on the border, but the adoption of the statement is immediately followed by increase of tension. The Co-Chairs call on to refrain from use of force, tension, to settle relations by peaceful means, and Azerbaijan responds in such a manner to the statement in question. Armenia reaffirms its commitment on regulation of the conflict through exclusively peaceful negotiations, as the Co-Chairs and the international community urges,” Edward Nalbandian stated.

Azerbaijan made an attempt of a subversive act in north-eastern direction (Talish) of the contact line of Karabakh-Azerbaijani opposing armies at 04:30, December 4. The frontier troops of the Defense Army identified in time the advance of the Azerbaijani special unit and pushed them back causing losses. Unfortunately, frontier guard Erik Edik Grigoryan, born in 1995, died of vital gunshot wounds.
