YEREVAN, DECEMBER 1, ARMENPRESS. The authorities of Armenia will do their best to ensure fair and transparent referendum on the Constitutional Reforms. Vice President of the National Assembly Eduard Sharmazanov said the aforementioned during the meeting with journalists on December 1.

“Of course I am far from thinking that the referendum will be held without any violation, as technical violations occur even in the most developed European countries. However, the authorities will do their best to ensure high quality referendum. And the final estimation of its quality will be presented by observers,” “Armenpress” reports, Sharmazanov said.

Regarding the existence of many violations and pressures already voiced by the opposition, Sharmazanov emphasized that not the opposition, but some part of it voices about such cases and that the latter part is marginalized.  

“You can recall that the largest part of the opposition said “yes” to the Constitution at the parliament, the latter is proved by the voting held at the National Assembly. And, I think, that the political forces that are against (the Constitutional Reforma), are marginalized. We are not to blame that some political forces do not have the required number of authorized representatives to secure their places at the precincts and control the process. If the parties in question are not able to secure their places in more than 100 precincts, how are they going to lead the country tomorrow?” Vice President of the National Assembly stated.

He called on the political forces, criticizing the authorities, not to sit on their hands and wait for the luck to come, but to engage in activities, ensure proper control, adding that if one does not have enough number of authorized representatives to ensure representation in the precinct, then all the words said are just idle talk.
