“The witness”: 105-year-old survivor keeps in her heart dream of seeing her parent’s house

YEREVAN, DECEMBER 1, ARMENPRESS. “Armenpress” news agency presents the memories of witnesses residing in Armenia on 1915 Armenian Genocide by special “The witness” project. Our creative team went to Aragatsotn Province to present the reader the story of Armenian Republic’s last survivor and witness of the Genocide.

105-year-old Guyna Markosyan passed major part of her life in Tatul village which granted a national hero. Appearing in Tatul village’s everyday life,  we learn with interesting coincidence that Our creative group’s met first person Spartak is the village's oldest resident’s 80-year-old son kindly who agreed to accompany us to his parent's house.

Guyna Markosyan started to live in Tatul village since 1932. This woman, with special name, had particular and hard destiny. She is one of the unique witnesses who still is alive with immense wish to tell about Armenian people sufferings and whose age allows to remember fragments of the years of massacres and deportations.

She was born in 1910, she was a little child when the Turkish massacres began. She remembers very well the childhood which she spent starving and in orphanages.

She lost part her relatives in the waters of Arpacha during the days of migration, those who were saved found residence in Mantash, first her brother and sisters died from measles and then her young parents.
