Armen Ashotyan: Great potential exists for development of Armenian-Iranian educational 
cooperation

YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 30, ARMENPRESS. Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Armenia Armen Ashotyan met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the Republic of Armenia Seyed Kazem Sadjadi. As “Armenpress” was informed from the press service of the Ministry of Education and Science, greeting the newly appointed Ambassador, the Minister congratulated him on the occasion of starting a diplomatic mission in Armenia and wished him productive activities, at the same time hoping that his activities will foster development of Armenian-Iranian educational relations.

“We highly appreciate our relations with Iran in the sphere of education and science, but we are also convinced that there exists great potential for further deepening the relations”, Armen Ashotyan mentioned in his speech, adding that the traditional friendship of the two nations is particularly vivid in the spheres of education and culture.

The Ambassador mentioned that Armenian-Iranian relations are currently in the stage of dynamic development in all spheres, but educational cooperation has always been a priority. During the meeting the sides discussed new possibilities of implantation of bilateral educational programs. The Ambassador said that Iran is interested in student exchange programs. He particularly suggested observing cooperation possibilities between higher educational institutions of the Republic and Armenia and Azad University in Tehran. Armenian Minister of Education mentioned that Armenia is interested in increasing the number of Iranian students in Armenia, stating that during the last years Armenia has made great efforts to make the education document of Armenia recognized in European Higher Education Area.

During the meeting the sides also discussed the issue of mutual recognition of education documents between Armenia and Iran as well as about teaching Persian and Iranian culture in Armenian schools.
