Last week, leaders of the "Fair Russia" Sergei Mironov and Nikolai Levichev made to the State Duma a bill on responsibility for the non-recognition of the Armenian Genocide in Turkey and Western Armenia in the Ottoman Empire in the period of 1915 - 1922 years.

"The adoption of such a law in the Russian Federation will create a serious and systematic mechanism in the fight against the falsification and distortion of historical facts of the Armenian Genocide, misinformation in the media, bribing journalists, bloggers, all sorts of" experts "and government officials, which will not mislead the citizens of Russia, and not to defile memory of the dead people, and create a real basis to prevent recurrence of such actions of the Turkish government, "Abrahamian said.

He is grateful to Russia for its consistent and objective stance on condemning the Armenian Genocide.

Under the bill SRs, if the denial has been made publicly, for such a violation it is proposed to punish by a fine of up to 300 thousand rubles or the salary or other income for a period of up to two years, or by community service for up to three years, or by imprisonment for the same period.

The same acts committed by a person using his official position or using the mass media, are punishable by a fine of 100 thousand to 500 thousand rubles or by the salary or other income for a period of one to three years, or by community service for up to five years, or by imprisonment for the same term, without the right to occupy certain positions or engage in certain activities for up to three years.
