Special operations carried out in nearly 20 different places in Armenia on Nov. 25

YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 27, ARMENPRESS. Narek Malyan, Advisor to the Republic of Armenia Chief of Police, published on his Facebook page questions of interest to users and gave answers. Malyan also stated that the ammunition confiscated on November 25 in Yerevan was 10 times more than that of used in Paris terror acts of November 14 together with that of confiscated later. “Armenpress” introduces the interview with some technical changes.

Question 1. It is already two days that mass media representatives circulate the accusation-like question that that house where the armed group was detected was available for journalists during daytime.

- This question is devoid of any grounds, because before the first journalist entered the house, lawyers of different specializations such as criminologists, investigators, fingerprint specialists and others worked for nearly 9 hours. Search and examination was carried out, fingerprints and justifications were taken from the arrested, and protocols were drawn up. The whole range of actions envisaged by the law were implemented and only after these measures the law enforcement bodies left the house together with the arrested. After leaving, the house was of no importance for the coming process, as it is a private ownership and the owner of the house gave people the right to enter or leave the house.

Question 2. Why did the National Security Special Forces break into the house with the help of BRDM from the second floor, while they could just open the gate?

-Before any action, Special Forces make a detailed plan of that action relying not on Facebook comments but on operative data, real assessment of risk, clever power distribution, factor of unpredictability (this is the key precondition to exclude armed clashes), skills obtained by professional training and many other objective factors.

Of course, those who ask this question can practice the tricks they have seen in films in real life when they will go to neutralize an armed group. For example, knock at the door imitating a beggar and neutralize all of them.

Question 3. If the accomplices of the group see the news and explode something?

-The authors of this question think that the police learned about the group and hurried to Nork Marash 20 minutes before the operation. The group had been under the surveillance of law enforcement bodies for a long time. The time, type and place have been decided not through Facebook petition, but considering numerous factors. Approximately 2 dozens of operations were carried out at the same time.

Storm of the house was only one of those 20 operations.

Question 4. Do the members of the armed group have any accomplices who are still in freedom?

- Of course, they have. Details will be revealed during the preliminary investigation, but it would be naïve to think that all the members of the criminal group had gathered in one place waiting for the police.

-Question 4.1. What will those remaining in freedom do?

- That is right…use all possible methods to scream about political revenge and drive those derive of firm opinion under their influence, inspiring that they are fighting against injustice.

I think many people will be ashamed for their hasty comments made during these days after we get the answere to the main question: when and where would be used the weapons?

-Question-remark 5. “Period of the rent of the house in Nork Marash was to be expired in 5 days. What an interesting armed group, guys. They load the arms and ammunitions in a van every month and move to another place”.

-Correct, period of the rent of the armory was to expire in 5 days. What they would do then? Only do not say they would move.

A criminal group has been revealed as a result of operative investigation works carried out by the National Security Service of the Republic of Armenia. The group intended to organize a number of grave crimes in the territory of the Republic of Armenia.

Armenia citizen, former resident of Yerevan, Artur Vardanyan residing abroad arrived in Armenia in 2015, formed and headed a criminal group. According to preliminary agreement, the group illegally acquired a large number of weapons and ammunition concealing it in a rented house in Nork district of Yerevan.

In joint searches with the Police on November 25, different rifles, pistols, grenade launchers, grenades, explosive materials and equipment, cartridges, bullets etc. were discovered.   Artur Vardanyan and 9 members of the criminal group were discovered in the house during the searches. The criminals have been arrested.

A criminal case has been initiated in Investigative Department of the National Security Service of the Republic of Armenia in accordance with parts 1 and 2 of Article 223 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia. Preliminary investigation is underway.
