Erdogan complains Putin did not answer his call
YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 27, ARMENPRESS. Official Ankara attempts to bring arguments justifying the downing of the Russian SU-24 by Turkish F-16 fighter jet.
“Armenpress” reports that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, in an exclusive interview with FRANCE 24, said that Putin had ignored his phone calls.
“Had we known it was a Russian plane we may have acted differently,” he said, adding that his country “does not want tensions with Russia”.
In reply to Erdogan’s statement, Russian Foreign Affairs Minister Sergey Lavrov said that Putin had received no phone call from the president of Turkey.
Putin, in his turn, said during the joint press-conference with French President Francois Hollande that it was ''not possible'' the downed plane could not have been identified as a Russian jet as it had special marks on it.
