YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 25, ARMENPRESS. The sitting of the Government Commission formed according to the decision of Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Hovik Abrahamyan on the occasion of People's Artist of the USSR and of Armenian SSR Varduhi Varderesyan’s death was held on November 25. One-minute silence was held in memory of the distinguished actress at the beginning of the sitting.  As “Armenpress” was informed by Information and Public Relations Department of the Government of the Republic of Armenia the PM said in his message of condolence:

“People's Artist of the USSR and of Armenian SSR, medalist of the Movses Khorenatsi Medal, awardee of the Order of St. Mesrop Mashtots, honorary citizen of Yerevan, renowned and admired actress of Gabriel Sundukyan National Academic Theatre Varduhi Varderesyan was the symbol of our classic stage, queen of the Armenian stage, and unmatched Johnny. She was one of the unique actresses that had been active on stage for 57 years in Gabriel Sundukyan National Academic Theatre, played numerous roles, enjoying the love and admiration of the audience. We discussed the issue with the President of the Republic and made a decision that the renowned actress will be buried in Komitas Pantheon.”

It was decided in the sitting that Varduhi Varderesyan’s requiem will be held at 18:00, November 26 at Saint John Church (Surb Hovhannes Church) in Kond, the last farewell ceremony will be held at 12:00-14:00, Nov. 27 in Gabriel Sundukyan National Academic Theatre, funeral ceremony – on the same day in Komitas Pantheon.
