YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 25, ARMENPRESS. According to Republic of Armenia Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan the downing of the Russian warplane by Turkish air forces is a blow to the efforts of the international community aimed at fight against terrorism.

“Armenpress” reports that Seyran Ohanyan expressed such an opinion during the joint briefing with Serbian Defense Minister held at the Defense Ministry of the Republic of Armenia.

“I think, what has happened is a blow to the combined efforts the international community puts to fight against international terrorism,” Ohanyan said.

A Russian Su-24 jet crashed in Syria on Tuesday. Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the plane was downed by an air-to-air missile launched by the Turkish F-16 jet over the Syrian territory, and fell 4 kilometers (2.5 miles) from the Turkish border. Putin said the Turkish attack was a "stab in the back" carried out by "accomplices of terrorists." "Today’s loss is linked with a stab in our back delivered by terrorism accomplices. I can’t characterize otherwise what has happened today," the Russian leader said.
