ISTC is interested in developing cooperation with Armenia in science and technology

YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 24, ARMENPRESS. Minister of Science and Education of the Republic of Armenia Armen Ashotyan received the delegation headed by Executive Director at International Science and Technology Center (ISTC) David Cleave who is in Armenia on a working visit. As “Armenpress” was informed by Public Relations and Information Department of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Armenia, Minister Ashotyan greeted the guests thanking for the cooperation noting that Armenian attaches importance to all the opportunities in the sector of science and innovation development. ISTC Executive Director emphasized that they are interested in the development of cooperation with Armenia in the sector of science and technology. 

David Cleave noted that after Russia’s withdrawal from ISTC certain problems emerged that have already been solved. Particularly, some regulations’ changes have been made; new development policy has been developed, and a new phase of ISTC projects’ financing is expected to start in the near future. Working groups have been created, which will discuss issues related to the new strategy for ISTC development and its expansion.

Minister Ashotyan emphasized that since the beginning of the ‘90s till the end of the ‘90s when Armenia was a member to ISTC it faced the task of system preservation. Today, however, efforts are made aimed at its development.  

The parties also discussed sectors of joint scientific projects, financing mechanisms and formats of cooperation.  ISTC representatives had meetings with Ministry of Education and Science of Armenia State Committee of Science and research centers. The parties expressed readiness to continue cooperation.
