Arteni community school has new gym

YEREVAN, OCTOBER 22, ARMENPRESS.  The newly renovated and equipped School Gym opened its doors to 300 students attending the Arteni School N1 in Aragatsotn Region of Armenia.
As “Armenpress” was informed from Children of Armenia Fund, the capital renovation of the Arteni School Gym was made possible by the Children of Armenia Fund (COAF) through the generous donation by COAF longstanding supporters Mr. and Mrs. Ara and Sonya Hacet, as well as valuable contribution from the German-based nonprofit organization Nairi e.V.-Fur Die Kinder Armeniens.
Renowned Armenian-German strongman and former bodybuilder Patrik Baboumian traveled from Germany to visit the Arteni School back in October 2013 and afterwards joined hands with Nairi e.V. - Fur Die Kinder Armeniens to raise much needed funds which were directed towards repairing floors and installing a heating system at the school gym.
The students celebrated the opening of their new gym with a sport competition that was organized in close collaboration with the Department of Mass Sports and Physical Education at the Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs of the Republic of Armenia.
“Since 2008, when COAF started working in the community of Arteni, a lot of tangible results have been registered, and up to date we continue witnessing more accomplishments. We are happy to state that these consistent actions empowered the children of Arteni to aim high and dream big”,- highlighted Ms. Anoush Yedigaryan, COAF Executive Director.
It has been several years that COAF implements a multitude of Education programs at the Arteni School. A Creativity Lab has been launched in the school, equipped with the cutting-edge technology and knowledge-friendly environment. Other activities as part of the Education Program include teacher trainings in modern methodologies and skills development, as well as Professional Orientation program, after-school clubs and summer schools. Arteni is also among those beneficiary communities where the English Access Micro-scholarship Program is being implemented.
With the aim of promoting healthy lifestyle and healthy behavior since early childhood, COAF facilitates the operations of Healthy Lifestyle Clubs, holds health education trainings and organizes special events at the Arteni School. COAF’s Brushodrome is another innovative solution to address poor dental hygiene, teaching children to properly brush their teeth on a daily basis. Due to COAF’s efforts, the Arteni School has joined the Schools for Health in Europe (SHE) Network. COAF also works with the Arteni Medical Center, providing supportive supervision to local health professionals and contributing to their continuous development.

The Children of Armenia Fund (COAF) is a non-profit, non-governmental organization that employs community-led approaches aimed at improving the quality of life in rural Armenia, with a particular focus on children and youth. COAF’s target development areas are education, health, social and economic development. COAF launched its programs in 2004, starting in one village and expanding to 22 villages in Armavir and Aragatsotn Provinces of Armenia. Since 2014, COAF has expanded its outreach and launched development programs throughout rural communities of the Toumanyan Region of Lori Province.
