YEREVAN, OCTOBER 16, ARMENPRESS. Though the government is going to prolong the exploitation date of the current block of Metsamor Nuclear Power Plant, but, anyway, it does not mean that Armenia gets rid of the intention to build new nuclear plant. Armenia announced several years before about building a new power plant and that initiative continues to remain in the agenda. We should realize once for all that Armenia does not have any alternative to the nuclear power plant. The process was stopped just for several reasons in the latest period.

First of all, Fukushima nuclear disaster interfered it, after which the behavior towards the use of the nuclear power was changed through all over the world. After that there appeared countries, who decided to refuse the use of the nuclear energy, and Germany is in that list. Though it did not take a long time contrary to be ensured.

The nuclear power remains to be considered as one of the cheap, high-quality and reliable recourses of the electrical energy. As “Armenpress” reports, the announcement of MINISTRY OF ENERGY AND NATURAL RESOURCES OF THE REPUBLIC OF ARMENIA reads, that Armenia is not going to refuse the usage of it.
