Johnny Depp does not contend for Oscar

YEREVAN, OCTOBER 13, ARMENPRESS.There's an accepted Hollywood response if your film's getting Oscar buzz... It goes something like, "any recognition for the people who worked hard on it is great", or "if the attention gets the film a wider audience then lovely".

But Johnny Depp, whose role as a gangster in Black Mass is receiving that chatter, doesn't want one. “Armenpress” reports the aforementioned citing BBC News.

"I don't want to win one of those things ever, you know," Johnny tells Newsbeat.

"I don't want to have to talk," he says, as Black Mass premieres at the London Film Festival.

"They gave me one of those things, like a nomination, two or three times," Johnny says. "A nomination is plenty."

Johnny Depp's had three Oscar nominations up to this point for his roles in Finding Neverland (2004), Sweeney Todd (2007) and the first Pirates of the Caribbean film (2003).

"The idea of winning means that you're in competition with someone and I'm not in competition with anybody," says Johnny.

"I just stick to my guns and do what I want to do. Sometimes people don't like it but that's alright."

The list of who is in the running for next year's Academy Awards won't be revealed until January.

Black Mass, which also stars Benedict Cumberbatch, is out in the UK on 27 November.
