YEREVAN, OCTOBER 13, ARMENPRESS. Minister of Territorial Administration and Emergency Situations of the Republic of Armenia, Armen Yeritsyan, sent a telegram on the occasion of the International Day for Disaster Reduction.

Dear compatriots,

Every year October 13 is celebrated as the International Day for Disaster Reduction. Natural, technical, environmental, social and epidemiological emergencies cause large damage to our country and citizens every year. International experts indicate that poor and developing countries are hit worst by disasters, as they do not have enough resources to invest in risk management sector. In this regard, destruction risk reduction must be a universal process with the participation and contribution of state and local governmental structures, expert organizations, civil society and everyone else”.

The Minister emphasized that Armenia has turned from rescue system and experience importer into exporter.

“In this regard, the success and achievements of Ministry of Territorial Administration and Emergency Situations of the Republic of Armenia have been praised by the international society. Armenia was recognized by the UN as a country of best experience and achievements reducing disaster risk within short times”, the Minister said.
