Ambassador Armen Melkonian and Algeria Foreign Minister discuss situation in Middle East

YEREVAN, OCTOBER 13, ARMENPRESS. Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia to Algeria Armen Melkonian (residence Cairo) handed the copies of his credentials to Minister of Foreign Affairs of People's Democratic Republic of Algeria Ramtane Lamamra. As “Armenpress” was informed by the Department of Press, Information and Public Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia, Algeria Foreign Minister and Ambassador of Armenia discussed during the private conversation succeeding the solemn ceremony the ways of fostering bilateral cooperation between Algeria and Armenia, the necessity of the creation of legal framework as well as possibilities of mutual support within international organizations.

Ambassador Melkonian presented the priorities of Armenia’s foreign policy to Foreign Minister of Algeria, spoke about the traditional friendly ties between Armenian and Arab people.   

The interlocutors exchanged thoughts on the regional issues, particularly the current condition in the Middle East.

Ambassador Melkonian touched upon the latest developments related to the Nagorno Karabakh conflict, the OSCE Minsk Group Co-chairs’ and Armenia’s efforts aimed at the peaceful settlement of the conflict, Baku’s unconstructive approaches and consistent ceasefire violations on its part.

Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia to Algeria Armen Melkonian also had a meeting with Algerian Minister of Culture Azzedine Mihoubi discussing the possibilities of strengthening cultural ties between the countries.
