Conan O'Brien is taking his late-night talk show to Armenia
YEREVAN, OCTOBER 13, ARMENPRESS. The late-night talk show host is currently in Armenia filming an episode of Conan that will air Nov. 10 at 11 p.m. ET on TBS. “Armenpress” reports referring to ew.com that O’Brien’s assistant, Sona Movsesian, who is of Armenian lineage, is accompanying him, and neither has visited the Western Asia country before. And, yes, this is the first time an American late-night talk show has broadcast from Armenia.
“I think it’s every boss’s responsibility to take their assistant back to their ancestral land,” said O’Brien in a statement. “That’s why I’m going to make sure my next assistant was born in a five-star resort in Tuscany.
O’Brien has demonstrated that he’s not afraid to take his show to unexpected places; in February he journeyed to Cuba for a special episode that saw him dancing in the streets of Havana and visiting a rum factory. During his Late Night tenure at NBC, he ventured to such countries as Ireland and Germany.
O’Brien’s Armenian adventure, which like his Cuban jaunt, will be largely unscripted. More Conan episodes taking place in assorted locations across the planet are in the works for next year.
