independence of judicial authorities

YEREVAN, OCTOBER 10, ARMENPRESS. The Specialized Commission on Constitutional Reforms thoroughly discussed all the aspects of modern challenges that strengthening of independence of the Judiciary of Armenia faces nowadays, attempting to find solutions that will improve its quality level. President of the Constitutional Court of Armenia Gagik Harutyunyan told the aforementioned to “Armenpress”, when speaking about the new provisions in connection with judicial authorities established by the draft Constitution.

“Not only the task of ensuring the independence of the Judiciary of Armenia was confronting us but also securing efficient justice and formation of adequate public attitude towards the latter.” President of the Constitutional Court of Armenia explained.

“On Constitutional level, the emphasis is put on the clarification of the functions of the judicial system and effective solution of the problem of institutional relations. We tried to ensure such procedures that would be capable of guaranteeing the independence of the judiciary through the mechanism of necessary checks and balances,” Harutyunyan noted.
