Armenia highlights cooperation with African states

YEREVAN, OCTOBER 9, ARMENPRESS.  On October 9, Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian met with Foreign Minister of Senegal Mankeur Ndiaye, who arrived in Armenia to participate at the 31st session of the Conference of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the International Organization of La Francophonie (OIF).

As “Armenpress” was informed from Department of Press, Information and Public Relations of Republic of Armenia MFA, welcoming the guest, Minister Nalbandian mentioned that he has fond memories of the session of the Conference of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the International Organization of La Francophonie, held in Dakar. The Minister added that Armenia attaches importance to the development of relations with African states and in this context Senegal could be a peculiar bridge.

Expressing gratitude for the organization of the OIF Conference of Ministers and warm reception, Senegal’s Foreign Minister mentioned that he is happy to be the first official from Senegal paying visit to Armenia.

During the discussions over the development of bilateral relations, the Ministers placed significance to formation of the legal framework, holding of consultations between the MFAs, collaboration within international organizations, decentralized cooperation.

The Ministers reflected on the ways to foster cooperation in the fields of culture and education.
Ministers discussed the process of implementation of decisions adopted at the Dakar Summit.

Edward Nalbadian presented to the guest the main directions and priorities of the foreign policy of Armenia, efforts exerted by Armenia and the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs towards a peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh issue.
