EU countries to adopt mandate on new agreement with Armenia
YEREVAN, OCTOBER 9, ARMENPRESS. The representatives of 28 EU countries will adopt a mandate in Luxembourg next week authorising the opening of negotiations between Armenia and the EU on signing a new legal agreement. “Armenpress” reports that Harlem Désir, France’s Secretary of State for European Affairs, said the aforementioned during a short conversation with the journalists.
“I will represent France in the meeting. The issue of cooperation is on the agenda of my speech. I have already had a number of meetings and speeches on that topic. The decision of Riga summit was very important as it made possible the creation of a new document on cooperation between Armenia and the EU, which will comply with the obligations assumed by Armenia in the framework of the Eurasian Economic Union,” Harlem Désir said.
In the Joint Declaration of the Eastern Partnership Summit (Riga, 21-22 May 2015) its participants welcomed the common understanding reached on the scope for a future agreement between the EU and Armenia aimed at further developing and strengthening their comprehensive cooperation in all areas of mutual interest.
